About
Payal was raised by a CFO. So, it’s no shock that accounting would be her chosen profession versus becoming a doctor, an engineer or a lawyer. Emigrating from Kolkata, India, she landed her first job in public accounting, where she spent 12 years in what she calls, “Public Accounting Purgatory,” between the Big 4, boutique firms and the private sector, evolving into a “hubristic supervillain of all areas of taxation.” To say she can paint a picture with words would be an understatement.
And, she’s certified, as a Certified Blockchain & Finance Professional and passing the CPA exam a decade ago. She’s spent her career serving small businesses and high net worth individuals with the whitest of gloves. Outside of the illusive 9-to-5 of public accounting, she’s also managed to find time to become a published poet and writer (hence the picture painting with words!).
Ever the Renaissance woman, she also holds a diploma in music and certifications in sailing, which she uses to explore her beautiful naval city of San Diego. She spends her personal time practicing yoga, meditating, reading and hiking as a “necessary concomitant to her privileged role as the single mom.” We, however, believe we’re the privileged party in this arrangement to have her in the role of the Dark Horse CPA.
