“I have discovered in life that there are ways of getting almost anywhere you want to go, if you really want to go.” – Langston Hughes
That the son of an engineer became an accountant would surprise few. That the bass guitarist would run the business management and tax compliance for the band would surprise most. Yet, we are talking about the same John Stuller in both instances. John has been able to blend the analytical proclivities learned and inherited from his father with the creativity cultivated in his musical pursuits to become a highly proficient and strategic accountant.
John’s musical pursuits would eventually lead him to more in-roads into the accounting industry within the entertainment industry. It would also lead him to Los Angeles. On the “unsurprising” side of the ledger, he opted to make a home in the sunny confines of southern California. He now resides in the artistic enclave of Ojai, about an hour and a half northwest of LA.
John has his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Missouri, Columbia where he is also about to complete his Master’s degree of the same. He’s worked for famed composer, Hans Zimmer, performing all accounting functions for Remote Control Productions (including various projects like royalty accounting for The Simpsons Movie: The Music). He’s also lead the finance and accounting function for a number of other notable entertainment companies.
Outside of the aforementioned activities and studies, you’ll find John outside enjoying the sun via outdoor exercise or tending his yard. And, more likely than not, you’ll see him with his family which consists of his wife, daughter and two dogs tooling around town.
