Niki Potter

Accounting & Tax Manager

“If nothing changes, nothing changes” – Chris Coe

Niki began her career in tax at a Big 4 firm. She really enjoyed the work. The hours, not so much. After becoming a mother and staying home for a few years, she wanted to get back into accounting, but this time, on her own terms. She was seeking a firm that understood the balance of working hard and living a full life. Enter Dark Horse CPAs. She loves building relationships with clients that just so happen to also help them better understand their books and taxes and empower them to make strategic decisions.

Niki has been moving further down the California coastline as time has gone on. She grew up in a small town outside of Lake Tahoe, where she enjoyed skiing mountains in the winter and lakes in the summer. She then began her migration south to attend UC Santa Barbara, where she earned her accounting degree. Post-college, she moved down to San Diego to work for the aforementioned Big 4 firm, and where she met her husband, Kyle, who also happened to be from the same small town as her. They are now the proud parents of two kiddos, Beckett and Hazel and a four-legged daughter named Lulu.

When not accounting, you can find her chasing two highly energetic kids, running (not after the kids), indoor-cycling, cooking (homemade sourdough currently!) hanging out at the beach with the fam and drinking wine with girlfriends.
