A Marine Corps Drill Instructor is a Director of Operations in their own right. Maybe more of a dictator of operations in that context, but the point stands. Thus, one might not find it too big a leap for David Buenaventura to go from the former to the latter. But, it didn’t happen overnight. David served twelve years of active-duty as a Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in the Marines, where he was deployed in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, earning the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation and Achievement Medals. In other words, he became an American hero prior to taking on his current civilian role. Hard work, humility, integrity and personal courage are core values forged during his service that inform how he shows up in the workplace today.
David earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from San Diego State University and joined the world of financial advisory in 2019. In his role as Director of Operations at Dark Horse Private Wealth, David is committed to driving the company’s objectives and developing its people along the way.
Outside of work, David passionately follows his beloved Lakers, Dodgers and Rams. He also loves spending time with friends and family, especially over a beer, cheering on one of the aforementioned teams. And, he still maintains his commitment to the Marines, where he serves as a Gunnery Sergeant in the Reserves. But what’s most important to him is the time he spends, and the memories he makes, with his wife and two children who are the center of his universe.
