Program Description
Dark Horse CPAs provides text messaging (SMS/MMS) to support existing client engagements. Messages are service and transactional only—for example: appointment reminders/changes, document or e-signature requests, status updates, and time-sensitive compliance or filing notices. We do not send promotional or marketing messages through this service channel.
If you separately opt in to marketing, you may receive occasional promotional/marketing texts (e.g., service updates, event invitations, newsletters). Marketing is optional and not required to receive services.
Opt-In (Verbal is Primary) & Additional Methods
Our primary method of consent is verbal opt-in, collected at a Dark Horse CPAs office, over the phone, or during a video meeting. By providing your mobile number and giving verbal consent, you agree to receive service and transactional texts related to your engagement. You may also opt in by initiating a text conversation to a Dark Horse CPAs number.
Consent is voluntary and not a condition of receiving services. U.S. mobile numbers only; you must be 18+ to enroll.
In addition, our website may present checkboxes to capture your preferences:
- Transactional texts (service/operational): By checking this box and submitting your number, you agree that Dark Horse CPAs may text you about your account and services (e.g., appointment reminders, document/e-signature requests).
- Marketing texts (optional): By checking this separate box, you agree to receive promotional/marketing messages (e.g., service updates, event invitations, newsletters).
Message Frequency & Costs
Frequency varies by your interaction and needs (e.g., more messages near deadlines). Message and data rates may apply.
Opt-Out
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message from us. After you send STOP, we may send a one-time confirmation of your opt-out and you will no longer receive messages from that number. You can also email privacy@darkhorse.cpa to opt out.

Privacy
We only use information you provide through this service to transmit your mobile messages and respond to you. Your information, including your phone number and messaging preferences, is handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Mobile opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes.
Use of Links (Occasional)
If we include links, they will direct to Dark Horse CPAs resources (e.g., client portal or e-signature) typically on darkhorse.cpa or other Dark Horse–managed domains. We do not use public URL shorteners for SMS.
Security
Avoid sending sensitive personal or financial information by SMS unless we specifically request limited details for verification. If needed, we may redirect you to a secure channel (e.g., client portal).
Delivery & Carriers
Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message delivery depends on your network and device.
Recordkeeping
We maintain records of opt-ins and opt-outs and honor revocations sent by any reasonable means (e.g., STOP or email).
Number Changes
If you change, lose control of, or reassign your mobile number, please notify us at privacy@darkhorse.cpa to help protect your privacy and ensure accurate message delivery.
Program Changes
We may modify or end this SMS program at any time. If material changes affect your rights, we will update these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy.
