Reviews

"Susan Snowden did an outstanding job handling our HOA compilation. She was attentive throughout the entire process, responded quickly to every question, and delivered thorough, well-organized work. Her attention to detail and professionalism made what could have been a complicated process feel smooth and efficient. Highly recommend working with her."

"Earlier this year, I was presented with the opportunity to purchase a company in San Francisco and needed a highly qualified business and tax accountant to guide me through the process. After many interviews, I was introduced to Chris and the Dark Horse team—and I’m extremely glad I was. Chris has been consistently responsive, deeply knowledgeable in corporate taxes, and generous with his expertise. He’s taught me a great deal, always looks out for my best interests, and approaches his work with both professionalism and integrity. I am 1000% satisfied with his services—and on top of that, he’s genuinely a great human to work with. My experience with Dark Horse was so positive that I also hired a fractional CFO through them, Susan Snowden, who has been equally impressive. I highly recommend Chris and the Dark Horse team. If you’re looking for smart, trustworthy professionals who truly know their stuff and care about their clients, you won’t go wrong with Chris or Susan."

"Susan at DarkHorse CPA was a critical component in keeping the finances and accounting systems running for several years before the company built out the capabilities in house. Susan was instrumental in helping the company transition from a cash basis accounting system to accrual basis. She also performed a very wide range of other duties, including closing the books, forecasting future years, managing taxes and chasing down new regulatory obligations. Through it all Susan always maintained a great attitude and had a very high willingness to jump in and help wherever it was needed; even in areas not typical for a professional of her level. But Susan saw that need and pitched in."

About

Ready for a great conversation? Susan brings a unique energy not seen in many accountants that makes collaboration seamless. Combining that with deep experience in the financial accounting field makes her an indispensable advisor to her clients—one that truly drives positive change and results.

Susan earned a degree in accounting from Clemson University (Go Tigers!) in 1995 and earned her CPA license in 1998. Her first 18 years of her career were mainly dedicated to both internal and external financial statement audits. She then transitioned into a role that would eventually see her as the CFO for the City of Tuscaloosa (Roll Tide?), where she spent the last six years.

But how did she end up at Dark Horse? Having spent her career primarily working with larger organizations, Susan decided she wanted to use her skillset to serve small businesses that she found were chronically underserved. Curiously enough, she happened upon Dark Horse CPAs while looking to see if the same name was available for her own practice. After realizing how aligned Dark Horse’s mission was with her own, joining the firm was a natural next step.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt that she also owns a couple of horses. Susan and Dark Horse CPAs go together like biscuits and gravy.

In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing.
