Abegail’s life is dedicated to serving others. It’s no surprise, to some extent, given that she was raised by a father who is a military veteran and a mother who put her family above all else. She’s also an optimist about those she serves as she “believes in the goodness of the heart,” to put it in her own words. Originally, she envisioned herself dedicating her life to the marginalized and needy in society but later realized she needed to be able to build a solid financial foundation for herself before she could truly help others. So, she decided to pursue her curiosity and interest in accounting. She soon realized that by serving small business clients, she was supporting the economic engine that could lift an entire nation, including those in need.
She started her career at a Big 4 accounting firm, earned her CPA license and began to serve businesses in various industries in the field of taxation. She was happy to have the opportunity to learn and grow, but her plans changed once she encountered Dark Horse. Here she saw the opportunity to accelerate her growth and be more directly connected to serving small business clients in a more comprehensive role. As one might guess from reading this biography, that opportunity was seized.
In her personal life, Abby relishes spending time with her family and animals (pigs, dogs, chickens), eating until her heart’s content (or at least her stomach is full), laughing at cringey jokes, reading, and watching historical documentaries and dramas. She also spends time outside, although admittedly is not an “outdoorsy type,” through walks in nature and gardening.
Suzi Drennen is the most knowledgeable, conscientious, and responsive CPA I have ever known—which is why I’ve stayed with her for more than 10 years. She is honest, has always gotten back to me quickly even at the height of tax season, and has saved me thousands of dollars over the years. The icing on the cake is that Suzi’s easy to work with and on top of that, a great person! She and her firm are tops!
