In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun!
— Julie Andrews
Beth Barker’s life revolves around service. Service to communities, organizations, and people. So much so that the bio she wrote about herself had little in it about Beth, the person, and much about the aforementioned parties she has dedicated her life to serving. In doing so, she demonstrated who she is by not talking about herself. Much more so, anyway, than a descriptive account could have.
Regarding her service, she makes clear that she is carrying on the work of her late husband. Having been widowed for nine years, one could surmise she does more than carry the torch. And, maybe it’s in the Barker DNA, as they passed down this sense of duty to give back to their son who is a local city councilman and philanthropist. As far as paying the bills go, she has served clients in public accounting for over 40 years, subsequent to obtaining her business degree from Otterbein College.
Her service outside of the nine-to-five includes being the Treasurer for the Food Pantry Network of Licking County, a six-year stint on the Board of The Round Up Foundation (part of The Energy Cooperative) which fulfills grant requests to non-profit orgs, and the Second Funds Committee at her church which helps fund church operations, serving the community and providing disaster relief where it’s needed. Beth says she’s looking forward to serving Dark Horse clients. Dark Horse says their looking forward to serving Beth.
