Born and raised in Northport, Alabama, a small city just across the river from Tuscaloosa, I'm a homebody at heart with a passion for numbers. After completing my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Accounting at the University of Alabama, I took my first steps into the professional world at a local CPA firm in Hoover, Alabama.
It wasn't just the start of my career that marked this significant time in my life, but also my personal life took a beautiful turn as I married my high school sweetheart, Wes. After five enriching years in Hoover, I joined the City of Tuscaloosa, climbing the ranks from an accountant to the Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting, and gaining valuable insights into governmental accounting.
A new chapter began when I joined another CPA firm in Tuscaloosa, seeking more time with my family. Around this time, Susan, my former boss at the City of Tuscaloosa, introduced me to Dark Horse. This unique approach to public accounting offered a perfect blend of what I enjoyed - bookkeeping and Fractional CFO work, and the flexibility to be there for my kids' events and activities.
Outside of work, my life is filled with family and faith. I cherish serving in my church and look forward to dedicating more time to mission opportunities. When we're not working or at church, our family's time is well spent, whether it's cheering on our son at soccer games, supporting our daughter at gymnastics lessons, or simply enjoying each other's company through outdoor activities, movie nights, or game nights. And when summer comes around, there's no place like the beautiful Alabama beaches for a family vacation.
In short, I'm an accountant who loves her family, serves Christ, and values flexibility in her career.
