Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
Hannah Shepard grew up in a small town (Alvin, Texas) before she moved to an even smaller town while in high school. Her entire graduating class, in fact, was composed of less people than one would find in their physical education or math class at a larger high school. Those small-town roots must be strong as she chose to build a life and family of her own in another small town where she resides today.
But don’t fool yourself. There’s nothing, “small town,” about Hannah’s ambitions and goals for her life. Hannah earned her Paralegal A.A.S. from Alvin Community College while pregnant AND working full-time. No one accused her of lacking a little Texas grit, after all. She then worked for a local tax attorney, handling the bookkeeping and tax preparation for clients while assisting in tax resolution and litigation for the firm. This job ignited her fire to continue down the road of accounting. She has since embarked on obtaining an accounting degree from Penn State University and has worked as a controller for an IT company prior to joining Dark Horse.
Hannah is also a wife and a mother to her two children, Elijah and Hurley. So, when she’s not working you can find her out with them on the river, wakeboarding, knee boarding, tubing and cruising. Outside of the water activities, she’s also a tennis player and enthusiast.
