EDUCATION
If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you.
— Zig Ziglar
Justin Kurn never thought he'd work at an accounting firm. Probably because he's not an accountant and probably because accounting firms don't have a role that would best utilize his skill set. He did, however, have a need for accounting and tax services for his own business. A client relationship evolved into a friendship. Before he knew it, he was utilizing his experience in sales, marketing and operations consulting to coach up Dark Horse's Accelerators and Principals. And, it was working...really, really well. And so, something that started out as just consulting on the side evolved into an integral role in the firm's plan to scale, broaden its reach, and accomplish its mission to radically change the public accounting experience for CPAs.
Justin got his undergrad in Business Administration from the University of San Diego and his Masters of International Business, Innovation & Entrepreneurship from the Munich Business School. He's worked with businesses of all shapes and sizes, from a SCUBA shop to a yoga startup to a retail consulting firm, just to name a few. Through these experiences, he's cultivated a unique (and effective) approach to leadership, sales and marketing strategies that is clear, actionable and results-driven. Dark Horse CPAs benefit greatly from his coaching and the systems and processes he's implemented at the firm.
When not helping Dark Horse CPAs grow and scale their book of business, Justin enjoys the outdoors; cycling, golfing, hunting & fly fishing, cruising his classic Ford Bronco and scuba and sky diving (that's not a typo...he likes diving of both kinds). He recently relocated to Dallas, TX, where he lives with his wife, Lexi and daughter, Payton.
