— Henry David Thoreau
Max Fritz is co-founder of Dark Horse CPAs and currently serves as the Director of Tax & Accounting.
Max’s path to the accounting field was somewhat circuitous. After one year on the eastern seaboard as a football recruit at The U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School, Max decided to swap the Atlantic for the Pacific and transferred to the University of San Diego. In the home stretch of his undergraduate studies as a Biology major, Max discovered that he was infinitely more interested in Balance Sheets than binomial nomenclature. So, in the 11th hour, he changed his major to Accounting and never looked back. Following graduation, he was fortunate enough to cross paths with Chase Birky, whom he describes as “one of the smartest people I’ve ever met,” and Dark Horse CPAs was born.
Max is passionate about helping small businesses and individuals navigate the ever-changing tax landscape. He believes trust is paramount in the advisor/client relationship and is proud that Dark Horse works diligently to build and maintain client trust.
Max grew up amongst the saguaro cacti and javelina in Tucson, Arizona. But, despite an affinity for sunshine, he soon realized he might be better suited for the type of rays that aren’t accompanied by 100-degree heat. Max lives in Point Loma and when not at the office, he can be found sharpening his golf game, jogging along the boardwalk, or fervently cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.
